This week John Patrick is the size of a big head of lettuce. He is roughly 13 inches long and weighs a little over 2 pounds. This week his eyes are forming and will probably open! How amazing is that?! His eyes are going to open! Already?!?!?! His eyelashes are now grown too! He is also working on his immune system and soaking up all my antibodies! He's practicing his breathing techniques too! He's getting ready for his big day which is in 97 days! Just 97! I'm so excited! I'm so happy!
So, this weekend was a rough one. One thing I pride myself on when it comes to this blog, I am honest. With every good moment, there has been a bad. It's not real if I don't report the good, the bad and the scary. This weekend was a scary moment. Friday morning at 2:30am, I woke up with a shooting pain that started in my back, wrapped around to my belly button and shot down to my groin area. It was painful. Then, it woke me up again at 4:00am and again at 6:15am, and then throughout the day. Then, I had another fainting episode and barely made it to a chair. It scared me. The pain was pretty bad. And it was scary. I finally called my physician's office and was instructed to go and get seen through the OB department. The nurse said it was probably nothing, but with the fainting and the pain, it was the safe thing to do. Well...I decided that I would give it a little bit to see if the pain went away. There were several reasons for this. I honestly thought it was just Braxton Hicks and normal and that with rest and water it would go away. So, finally at about 6:00pm, I had enough. The pain was just getting worse and coming more often. I couldn't get comfortable and the shooting pain was literally brought me to tears. We went into the ER. Let me just add in here, if you live in SE Oklahoma and choose not to get your healthcare at your hometown hospital MRHC, you are missing out on GREAT care. I was more than taken care of by my nurses, admitting personnel, lab, and everyone else who worked on us. Once we were back in OB, they hooked me up to the fetal monitor. My son HATED this monitor. They strapped it to me and he would either hide from it or kick it. He was angry at this monitor that he would kick and kick and kick and kick it until he kicked it out of place. I had to hold it in place and fight with my 25 week old son to hold the monitor in place. It was the only good news that we got which was John Patrick had a strong healthy heartbeat. He was not in distress. I also was not having pre-term contractions, leaking amniotic fluid and my cervix was closed. I was having the sharp pain that was strong enough to make me tense and then register on the contraction monitor. Next was a Urine Analysis. And my urine came back disgusting... The gravity of my urine was so bad that it didn't even register on the scale. It was too large. It also had a moderate amount of mucus and some bacteria. I was ordered two bags of IV fluid because of severe dehyrdation and was given a pain shot. This was also my first shot in the rear, which by the way, hurt a lot more than what I had anticipated. The pain they think is caused by a kidney infection which are common in pregnant women. So, the two hours of the IV fluid flew by for me because the pain shot KNOCKED ME OUT! And since I was knocked out from the medicine, so did John Patrick. Johnathan said that as soon as I went out, the baby quit fighting the monitor and cooperated with the fetal monitoring. So, needless to say, we both got some well deserved rest. I was then sent home with strict instructions to keep up the fluid intake and to rest. I love my hospital. Not just because I work there, but because I received excellent care there. There was not a moment where I didn't feel completely at ease with the staff taking care of me and our unborn child. Thank you MRHC staff for taking care of me and my poppyseed!
I have been trying to rest. This is finals week so once we are done with this, I can really slow down and concentrate on me and this baby being healthy and getting him cooked all the way so we can all kiss those sweet cheeks!
As always here are the belly pics. Ignore how rough I look because remember, it was a rough weekend for me and John Patrick and honestly I was still feeling a little rough and very tired. HOWEVER, the nursery is looking pretty nice! Johnathan is doing a wonderful job! I can't take credit for what's he's done because he won't let me help at all.

Next week, look forward to a doctor's update and help me celebrate the last week of my 2nd trimester!
Prayers for this week is that the pain stays away and that I can keep up the fluid intake to keep the kidney infection. Pray that John Patrick keeps growing and that he makes his debut safely and healthy!
