Weekend at the Lake? Just what the doctor ordered!

Hooray! Another weigh in!

Pounds Lost This Week: 3 Pounds
Pounds Lost Since Surgery: 87 Pounds
Pounds Lost Overall: 129 Pounds

Pounds to GO until GOAL: 66 Pounds

Last week I mentioned a doctor's appointment. This was my six month appointment! Can you believe that it's been six months six my surgery?! And that I've lost 87 pounds in just six months?! What an incredible journey this has been!!! I wouldn't trade a moment of this not even for fresh baked bread with melted better!!!!

First they weigh you. It's always a little scary to me because they don't define goals where you should be. They know me so well and know I will kill myself to exceed that goal; however, in the last three months, I lost 32 pounds. That's pretty fantastic. Then they take my vitals. If you remember, last time, I had a problem with my O2 stats. This time, no problemo. They were are at 98. My blood pressure was at 109/71. The first time I went to the doctor it was around 149/98. I was never diagnosed with high blood pressure, but those numbers are pretty freaking good!!! It's proof that this surgery is more than just about looking skinny or fitting into smaller jeans. It's about my health. The rest is just icing on the almond flour cake :)

Next, I met with exercise. I've been going to the gym and remaining active as I've been instructed and it shows. He was pretty pleased with me and the progress that I've made. I have those heart rate goals that were set for me and a little program. I have not been following the program. He suggested that I start. One, my body is adjusting to the weight loss and some patients' weight loss begins to dwindle at this point. I have to work hard to keep this up. I am soooooo close to my goal. I don't want to give up now.

After exercise comes nutrition. I know I pretty much rock at this. Do you know how hard this summer has been?! No s'mores, no buttery buns for grilled burgers, no birthday cake, no ice cream! This is still a struggle and the struggle is real kids. Even through all of this I miss food. I do my best to find alternatives to help curb the cravings. I think I'm doing a good job at this as well. We did mention the use of coconut flour or almond flour and sugar free chocolate chips or fruit pie filling to make desserts. We have been doing this, not every day, but we did it some this summer. Again, it's how I cope while you are enjoying a gooey s'more, I have been enjoying a sugar free almond flour chocolate chip cookie (which is amazing, btw.) She agrees with my philosophy. It's okay for special occasions, but not on an every day basis. So, I got good marks here as well. I also bought some protein pretzels and protein chips and can I just say YUMMMMMM! I'm getting more of these!!! Thank you Shelly for using me as a referral!!! I used my store credit wisely!!!

Finally, I got to meet with my doctor. He said I am doing great! He's proud of me. And he said that most patients take two years with the same surgery to lose 87 pounds and I've done it in six months. It may or may not be true, but it makes me proud of myself and all that I've accomplished. He asked me some medical questions about my scars and we look good there too. He did mention anxiety again....but I don't think I have an anxiety problem. Just a severe case of oldest sibling syndrome combined with a type A personality. (Yes, I did psych myself during abnormal psychology a few semesters ago). All in all, he told me that he's excited to see where I go from here. And honestly, I am too. 66 pounds to go?! I got this, son!!!

Also, this weekend we went camping. I know I've mentioned the love for the camping life. If you would have asked me five years ago, if I would loved camping, I would have said "yeah, at a luxury cabin with a hot tub." But, it really is amazing. We also got to spend some time with our family, Nathan & Amanda. Since we live 3 hours from them, it's nice to be able to sit around the campers and just visit. We also got in a nice visit with my father-in-law, Paul. That was especially nice. We don't get much time with him either so every moment we get to share with him is always well spent and blessed. Plus we always learn a thing or two. This time I was especially thankful for how he spoiled Rylee. He brought her treats and showed her love. Nothing means more to me than than and Johnathan's family has always been wonderful about accepting everyone. I guess that's why he's so wonderful because of his family. I'm especially blessed to be a part of The Muller, The Latimer and The Cobble families. Thank you for loving me and Johnathan for who we are. It's the best blessing yet.

Food while camping is a breeze. Everything is grilled. The first night we had some grilled chicken and some of those tomatoes with Italian seasoning and cheese. For lunch we had turkey lunch meat, cheese, pickles and pork rinds. Then for dinner we had grilled steaks that was marinated in the Loveras marinade that is SUPER yummy! We also had turkey dogs and lean burgers. We also had grilled squash. Everything is healthy because that's just how we do things. I did kind of feel sorry for our guests, Aunt Annabelle and Uncle Dale. We had no bread for the burgers....but it's our new lifestyle. We will survive.

Exercise is a breeze to because we spent all day at the lake. Some of the time I'm lounging on the raft, but I also move around alot and swim laps. I'm burning energy and focusing on moving. I LOVE the lake. I love the water. I love the camping life. And it defintely fits with our new lifestyle. The camper was definetly one of Johnathan's best ideas!

We also got to visit with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Mark and got a puppy!!!! He's the cutest! Look for pictures! His name is Crimson. He's 1/2 wire terrier and 1/2 red heeler! He's precious!

So, for this week, my prayer requests are to keep this weight loss snowball and this weekend in the exciting times of the Mullers we have a lock in at the church. I will need tons of strength for that.

As always, thank you in advance for the prayers! We love you and are very very thankful for all of your support and kind words. It's part of what helps keep us going!!
